An eco estate in the Cape's Noordhoek Valley

Sustainable living has the top priority in this feature about an ecologically based house in South Africa. The couple first spotted the asphalt-roofed residential estate from afar while visiting friends in the valley, and their curiosity took over. Every room provides a rewarding panorama and the running costs are low. Double-volume glass windows, together with skylights in the living and working areas, capture the sun to warm and illuminate the house. An environmentally friendly Morsø combustion fireplace, fuelled by wood heats the house in winter.
